Review: Last week we discussed how it could look to "leave much room for worship" in our day to day lives (Eugene Peterson). How did that look for you this past week? Any highlights, any struggles? 

Take a moment in prayer, welcoming the Spirit's presence. Then read Ecclesiastes 8:1-9, paying attention to any word or phrases that stand out to you. 

Two weeks ago Phil referred to the unpredictable smoke of a campfire, and this week we had an uncontrollable snow storm. Consider vv 6-7. How do you respond to the unpredictable and uncontrollable aspects to life?  

"Keep the king's command", The Preacher says in v 2. Phil referred often to the song "Trust and Obey." What comes to mind to you when you hear those words?  Do you find them easy or challenging words, and why? 

What do you think are the benefits of trusting and obeying? Consider v1 and v5. Where have you seen these benefits in your life? 

This all begins by first looking to the Lord. Consider the same 3 practices from last week. How might God be calling you to respond? 

1. Daily setting aside 2 minutes of quiet reflection upon the Lord. (Ps 46:10)​

2. Practice praying the Lord's prayer. (Matthew 6)

3. Practice Community. (LifeGroups, Sunday mornings, etc.)
