practices in abiding

Week eleven: witness
reflection and discussion questions:
  1. Read Acts 1:8. What do you think Jesus means that we will "be" His witnesses? Why is this important to remember?

  2. Jason described witness as "our lives proclaiming God's work." Read Mark 5:18-20. Take a moment to personally consider "how much the Lord has done for you, and how He has had mercy on you." What stories could you share? If with others, take time to share.

  3. Jason then described evangelism as "proclaiming the gospel with persuasion." Witness and Evangelism work in tandem, he said. How do they work together? Why are both important?

  4. The power in our sharing "comes from a deep, abiding gratitude for what this Gospel has done in us." (Jason Hubbard) Take a moment to slowly read Ephesians 2:1-10. How does abiding in Jesus (John 15:4) help us to become His witnesses?

  5. How can practicing witness benefit both unbelievers and believers?

  6. Jason gave us 3 takeaways. What can these look like in your day to day life?

    • Pray: Pray for the Holy Spirit to move in hearts of those around you and to give you the grace and courage to be His witness.

    • Let: Pastor Ralph said, "let your light shine consistently; you don't just turn it on." Let Christ work through you.

    • Be: Be a friend, and be ready.

  7. On Sunday, we practiced together the takeaway "pray." We were encouraged to write down the name of someone that we desire to see God draw to Himself, and then we prayed for them. Who is that for you? Will you keep praying for them? How can God work in both them and us as we do?

Next practice: community
