Week twelve: community
reflection and discussion questions:
-
Take a moment to remember and reflect upon last week's practice of witness. How has God been revealing Himself to you?
-
As we continue our study of spiritual practices, Marie reminded us on Sunday that the practices are not "an end to themselves," but rather are "practices that help us assume a heart posture that invites and allows the Holy Spirit to work." Why is this important for us to remember?
-
Read Proverbs 27:17 (remember Marie's gardening tools example!?) and Hebrews 10:23-25. In what way(s) does practicing community help us assume the heart posture mentioned in question one?
-
Marie pointed out that we all in different ways can struggle with this practice. However introverted or extroverted, quiet or outspoken, etc., we all can have challenges being part of a community. In what ways is community challenging for you? And in what ways can God work in those areas as we continue to practice community?
-
Read 1 Corinthians 12:12-27 and reflect. And, if with others, share.
-
Marie mentioned 3 practical takeaways. Take a moment to consider each. Which one stands out to you most and why?
-
Show up
-
Invite others and make room for the others (of all sorts) that show up
-
Keep at it

Read John 17:20-21. Pray and ask the Holy Spirit to form the heart of Christ in us more and more.
