2 peter
Week eleven: ch 3:14-18
reflection and discussion questions:
Regardless whether you use these questions for group or personal reflection, there's a LOT here, so don't feel any need to cover everything! Just use the questions below as a guideline for deeper thought and a way to stay present to 2 Peter through the week.
-
In verse 14 Peter writes, "Therefore, beloved, since we are waiting for these, be diligent to be..." What are the "these" he is referring to (see v 13)? How does having what we're waiting for in mind shape our actions in the present? How can our actions be impacted if we don't?
-
Peter again in this passage warns of false teaching that twists the Scriptures. He calls the church to "take care" or "be on guard" against such things. How can we (both as individuals and as a community) do that? Read and reflect again on 2 Peter 1:5-8, 10-11, 19.
-
Peter ends his letter just as he began (1:2). He encourages the church to "grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." Why do you think Peter begins and ends with this emphasis on knowing Jesus?
-
Every day is a new day to know Jesus more. Reread 2 Peter 1:2-4 slowly. Take a moment and prayerfully consider, "How could I pray this passage?" and write out your prayer. Then pray and ask the Lord to reveal Himself. How could practicing this sort of thing daily impact us?
-
Prayerfully reflect upon 2 Peter as a whole. How is God calling you to respond? Share with a friend or in your LifeGroup.
May God help us all to grow all the more in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
